Air France (Near East) 1960s Poster

$22$48

Artist Guy Georget (1911-1992) began illustrating in the the 1940s, working for tourist boards creating bright, bold images in his distinctive style. He was hired by Air France in the 1960s, and produced several posters including this one promoting travel to the “Near East.” That region’s boundaries and member countries has varied over the years depending on what source is consulted, but today, according to National Geographic, the terms Near East and Middle East denote the same territories, which include the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, Cyprus, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Turkey.
